It has been publicised by the Building magazine, that Kinetics is considering a joint venture with a number of housing associations. They have signed a £100m deal with Prudential to build up to 20,000 solar panels on the roofs of social housing blocks, despite the government’s regime. By joining with Prudential they can take advantage of the minimum price for energy sold back to the national grid, meaning cheaper power for the tenants.
As a result of the government reviewing the feed-in-tariff regime, Tesco have had to put on hold plans to build arrays of solar panels on the roofs of distribution centres. The government is said to be considering reviewing the regime for all schemes over 50kW.
