Syntegra Consulting appointed energy consultants for a Code level 3 target development of 4No. detached dwellings in Woking. Specialist consultancy also to be undertaken by Syntegra Consulting include:
- Energy strategy report(including detailed Feed-In-Tariff/RHI potential income stream and payback periods) and solar PV design consultancy
- Code for Sustainable Homes assessment
- Home User guide production
- SAP calculations, Building Regs Part L compliance checks & EPC
- Day-lighting calculations
- LZC feasibility report.
The overall recommendation was: Gas boiler + PV (Plot 1,2,4 = 1.5kWPV & Plot 3 = 1.8kWPV).This is based on the following reasons:
- This strategy model achieves compliance to BRUK Part-L1A.
- Less M&E services plant compared to the other shortlisted options.
- Least capital investment compared to other solutions. Also provides the most lucrative income stream.
- The Gas boiler + PV strategy would generate an overall dwelling average of 11.27% of energy via renewable technology. Therefore meets the planning requirement of 10% of energy generation via renewable technology.
- The Gas boiler + PV strategy would provide an overall dwelling average of 16.28% CO2 reduction saving (DER/TER). Therefore meeting the required code level 3 planning policy requirement and the minimum ENE 1 category requirement for the code for sustainable homes assessment (Nov10). Therefore 2.1 credits and Code Level 3 would be achieved for ENE 1.
- The Gas boiler + PV strategy achieves a Fabric Energy Efficiency of 69.03. Therefore NIL credits would be achieved for ENE2 of the code for sustainable homes assessments (Nov10).
- The Gas boiler + PV strategy would provide an overall 15.55% CO2 reduction saving (Actual case / Standard case). Therefore 2 credits would be achieved for ENE 7.
The planning condition requirement of a minimum 10% of required energy requirement is generated via on-site renewable technology has therefore been demonstrated.
