The Federation of Master Builders has launched a certification scheme to boost small builders’ ability to participate in the Green Deal.
The government initiative is intended to boost retrofit work by allowing householders to fund energy efficiency improvement through savings in their energy bills. Thus, the FMB Certification will offer Green Deal Installer Certification for companies that want to be part of the growing energy saving refurbishment market.
The FMB plans to make it easier for builders to offer the scheme by allowing them to register under a single certification scheme for the measures offered under the deal. Brian Berry, FMB chief executive, stated that he wanted the certification to be recognised as a guarantee of high quality work.
FMB Certification will start to process applications from September 2012. Interested businesses can register their interest now to receive a priority application pack without any obligation by visiting www.fmb.org.uk/certification, emailing certification@fmb.org.uk or calling 020 7092 3881.
