BREEAM New Construction 2011 is an assessment method and certification scheme with respect to performance of new buildings in UK. It can be used to evaluate the environmental life cycle impacts of new non-domestic buildings in the stages of design and construction. The aim is to utilize a robust and cost effective manner to alleviate these impacts on the environment.
The scope of BREEAM New Construction 2011 can be also applied in the following additional building types:
- Residential institutions
- Non-residential institutions
- Assembly and leisure buildings
- Transport hubs
The rating benchmarks for BREEAM New Construction 2011 is the following:
Outstanding – Scored over 85
Excellent – Scored between 70 to 85
Very Good – Scored between 55 to 70
Good – Scored between 45 to 55
Pass – Scored between 30 to 45
Unclassified – Scored less than 30
Which is equivalent to:
1, Outstanding: less than top 1% of UK new non-domestic buildings
2, Excellent: Top 10% of UK new non-domestic buildings
3, Very Good: Top 25% of UK new non-domestic buildings
4, Good: Top 50% of UK new non-domestic buildings
5, Pass: Top 75% of UK new non-d0mestic buildings
