With approximately 80% of daily driving in Britain being less than 30 miles, the electric cars are perfectly suited to most driving situations in the UK. More and more electric cars are being used on the roads. Meanwhile, more and more high quality, electric models are produced by car manufacturers.
Since electric cars are more expensive than traditional cars, the government has provided various incentives. Besides receiving a rebate of £2,000-£5,000, the Electric Vehicle buyers are also exempt from Car Tax payment. Moreover, fuel costs are very low for electric Vehicles as well.
Due to the growth in the usage of electric cars, it is crucial that suitable charging network is assessable in public or business car parks. The Mayor of London aimed to have 25,000 charging points in London by 2015. Among them, 500 points will be on-street, 2,000 pints will be off-street and 22,000 will be in private owned locations. Furthermore, the Department of Transport also offered charging station networks grants in eight regions including Central Scotland, the East of England, Greater Manchester, Milton Keynes, the North East of England and Northern Ireland to achieve 8,500 charge points in total.
The solar charging stations can bring various benefits. First, it is convenient for passing drivers to top up. Second, it reduces users’ grid emissions since it’s charging up from the sun. Third, it provides shelter for the car and the driver. Followed by the accelerated expansion of the Electric Vehicle market and the government incentives, more and more electric vehicles and solar charging stations will be needed in the future.
