Syntegra Consulting Ltd were appointed as energy consultants to produce an energy strategy for the ‘development consisting of 3No building blocks: (a) C2 Care Home consisting of 67 en-suite bedrooms, (b) C2 Extra Care: consisting of 51 flats and communal areas and (c) C2 Close Care apartments: consisting of 6No apartment flats, for the scheme at 62, 63 & 64 The Avenue in Egham, Runymede. To support the scheme design process and demonstrate Building regulations Part L compliance, Syntegra Consulting carried out the work to design the buildings to meet target code level 4 standard (for the flats), a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ target rating (C2 Care Home & C2 Extra Care) as well as making sure 10% of the developments’ energy requirement is designed to be via renewable energy technology, which is in accordance with planning policy requirements.
Syntegra offered consultancy advice in relation to Building regs U-Values building fabric requirements and renewable/LZC technology options and general M&E strategy options/considerations. Sustainability and Energy Statements were conducted, thus demonstrating that the applications include the consideration of all renewable energy technology/energy efficient measures. SAP assessment compliance checks were provided based on proposed scheme U-values and other services based design recommendations/assumptions. A series of SAP assessments were then run to assist in the evaluation overview justifying building regs compliance.
