A 200kW ground-source heat-pump system will help a £30 million luxury carte home in Surrey achieve a BREEAM ‘very good’ rating. The system cost £280,000 and will deliver £175 MWh a year of heat to reduce heating bills by an estimated £14,350 a year. Its peak COP is four using energy from 30 boreholes with a depth of 115m. The system is designed to perform for at least 25 years and will have recovered its initial capital cost after 12 years with help of payments from the Renewable Heat Incentive. Thereafter the client will continue to receive annual payments of up to £7,525. Each cluster building has its own closed-loop vertical borehole ground energy collector comprising 10 boreholes and an individual heat-pump system.
