Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the lever mechanism for the government to reform the construction industry, that’s what the Cabinet Office minister Chloe Smith has expressed. As stated in Building magazine April 2013, Smith made the comment during the launch of the Construction Industry Council’s for speak about BIM among SMEs, BIM4SMEs on Monday (15 April).
The government is committed to ensuring SMEs are not excludes of the industry to push it to adopt BIM. The market will keep the software costs down saying “more software providers can come forward”. The government hopes to encourage exportation of BIM expertise who’s, in the UK, in fast-developing . BIM is a great leveler and great opportunity for growth. It’s fast becoming the keystone in construction’s push for reform.
BIM is required for all government projects from 2016 through the construction strategy of the Cabinet Office.
