The August 2013 edition of the ‘Ernst & Young Renewable energy country attractiveness index’ sees a reshuffle of the top renewable-friendly countries.
Australia dropped from 4th to 6th, mainly as a result of political differences about its carbon pricing agenda.
The UK has taken its place at 4th, previously 5th, due to factors around electricity growth and market reform. Japan moves from 5th to 6th due to a forecast increased of solar PV capacity.
France overtakes India to gain 8th place due to a slightly improved macroeconomic outlook and higher electricity demand forecast.
1st, 2nd and 3rd place are still held by the US, China and Germany respectively.
