It’s often the case, isn’t it, that we’re encouraged to sign up to new systems and processes with the promise of saving money – yet we soon find ourselves too busy or not sure enough of the detail to actually proceed and the opportunity is missed.
Here’s one of those schemes that really is an opportunity not to be missed…saving you money and protecting the planet in the process. Deal!
Now you could never call us marketeers for the government, that’s never been, or will be, our role. But the government-backed Renewable Heat Incentive is a worthwhile financial scheme designed to encourage homeowners, businesses and other organisations to use renewable heat sources in their buildings.
All those eligible are paid by the government for every kWh of heat generated using a renewable technology over a 20-year-period.
Set tariffs published by the Department for Buisness, Energy and Industrial Strategy of an amount in pence per kWh are paid for those using the following products as heat sources:
Air Source Heat pumps
Ground Source Heat pumps
Solar Thermal
Biomass boilers
The RHI is available as two schemes:
Non-Domestic RHI – this includes industrial, commercial, not-for-profit organisations, communities and the public sector, as well as district heating schemes (where the heating system serves multiple homes).
Domestic RHI – this includes homeowners, private and social landlords (where the heating system serves a single household), and self-build homes.
However, Ofgem estimate that around 40% of submissions are invalid. Here at Syntegra, we can provide ad-hoc guidance and, if required for an eligibility test, a full quarterly on-line application service for subsidy funding approval and claims under the RHI scheme. Having a retained RHI consultant can avoid widespread problems with this claim process.
Our RHI Consultancy service can include:
Assistance with the RHI application process
Renewable heat installation and heat metering
An RHI installation site inspection survey
RHI Heat loss calculations
Periodic quarterly performance and output reports to claim the RHI subsidy payments
RHI payment protection Insurance cover
Syntegra can provide RHI payment protection insurance cover for the duration of the 20 year RHI period to ensure a maximum ROI on the system installed.
Director Alan King said: ‘The amounts payable can be quite significant from an efficient renewable heat source so it’s definitely worth getting the claim completed correctly. We’ve gained significant experience in this field now and know our way round the requirements well so our RHI consultancy service is proving invaluable to those interested in joining the scheme but find the prospect of paperwork daunting so continually push it one side.’
