When people visit a spa, they go there to relax and unwind, admiring the illusion of being far away from the daily grind in n oasis of calm.
Much of this illusion, we know, is created by use of light and systems being in place to run water in particular ways and to operate state-of-the-art features designed to generate that feeling of five star luxury.
So when we were approached to undertake the complete design and specification for electrical services at the new Colosseum Suite at Wokingham’s Nirvana Spa in Berkshire, we were delighted to have the opportunity to influence the sense of relaxation when guests entered the facility with a series of ground-breaking concepts.
With the centrepiece of this tranquil sanctuary a bespoke balneotherapy pool of gently moving super-oxygenated water with gentle jets soothing body and mind, the carefully lit domed ceiling, the water drawn from the aquifer beneath the spa, the mezzanine level of heated loungers and all the effects required to give the impression that users are in a warm sunny environment – not to mention integrating a chill out cafe, our team had a broad scope to work on.
A second pool is a walk-in salt water rehabilitation pool, the first of its kind in the UK, where guests can walk in water, entirely suspended from gravity, offering a safe way to exercise for those with arthritis, weakened muscles and sport related injuries.
Nirvana Spa has always tried to benefit the local community and minimise its impact on the environment. Our design has enabled them to continue this theme and the use of innovative technology that will ensure the new development harnesses all possible energy saving and CO2 reducing solutions.
The creative ideas and expertise have helped lead to the unveiling of a haven of calm in the heart of the busy commuter belt.
