Businesses are being urged to support and take part in a Global Climate Strike day of action on September 20th.
Business leaders have been encouraged by the UKGBC’s Chief Executive, Julie Hirigoyen,to ‘activate [their] leadership’ and allow staff to join in the planned campaign to ensure the built environment industry is at the forefront of climate leadership.
She told the organisation’s leaders’ forum – of which Syntegra MD Alan King is a member – that it is time to demonstrate to the new Prime Minister and Cabinet the importance of climate leadership in the face of a climate crisis.
‘To change everything, we need everyone,’ she said.
Business leaders are set to use the day as a vehicle to promote the importance of climate change to their organisations. Further details about the Global Climate Strike, including ideas for workplaces, can be found here.
‘We want to ensure that the built environment industry is at the forefront of climate leadership. So, as well as marching with members on 20 September, UKGBC will be launching a climate leadership model with a call to arms for all businesses to use this in setting their built environment specific climate commitments,’ Julie told leaders.
Alan said: ‘As business leaders involved in tackling built environment issues and trying to boost sustainability with every new project we’re involved in, it’s vital that we are seen to support this campaign.’
