Question: What is Building Information Modelling (BIM)?
Answer: Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a collaborative process for creating and managing information about a building throughout its life cycle using a shared three-dimensional digital model. Question: What is BIM Level 2 and ISO 19650?

It has since been superseded by the UK BIM Framework based on the international standard ISO 19650, which sets out information management processes across the delivery and operational phases of assets.

Level of Information Need (LOIN) is agreed for each stage.

BIM models can be exported to energy and thermal simulation tools using gbXML or IFC formats, enabling Part L compliance, overheating and daylight analysis to be based on the same geometry as the design. This ensures consistency between the design model and the compliance submissions and reduces duplication of effort.
