All air-conditioning systems with an effective rated output of more than 12kw must be regularly inspected by an accredited ACI Energy Assessors. The inspections must be a maximum of five years apart.
The regulations require the first inspection of the affected air-conditioning systems to be carried out as follows:
- For all the systems put into service after 1 January 2008, the first inspection must be carried out within five years since it was put into utilization.
- For the systems with output of more than 250kW, the first inspection must be carried by 4 January 2009.
- For the systems with output of more than 12kW, the first inspection must be carried by 4 January 2011.
Air-conditioning inspection by energy assessors are intended to improve the efficiency and reduce the electricity consumption, operating costs and carbon emissions by your air-conditioning system. Thus, you will find the potential to improve the operation of your existing systems and the feasibility to replace older systems by new energy efficient systems. Compliance to charge AC refrigerant is under separate legislation.
