The insulation Industry Forum that gathers 70% of the UK’s industry claims that the Green Deal which starts operating in January 2013 will cut-off 16,000 jobs. Indeed, due to the gap found between the end of the subsidy schemes related to cavity wall solid wall and loft insulation, and the full operation of the Green Deal and ECO (Energy Company Obligation), the number of jobs related to those type of insulation will significantly decrease. More precisely the Department of Energy and Climate Change’s figures show that 87.5% of loft insulation, 57% of cavity wall insulation and 16% of solid wall insulation.
Since 1 October 2012, households were able to register in order to get their dwelling assess in relation with the Green Deal. Seven cities in England have already been granted £12 m in total including Birmingham Leeds, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield.
