Mary Hare School is a non-maintained special school run by the Mary Hare Foundation providing for profoundly and severely deaf children and young people from all over the UK.
The school is housed at Arlington Manor which was originally purchased by the foundation in 1947.
Since purchase, the school has expanded considerably, including the addition of a classroom block, school hall, boarding house for boys, staff flats, swimming pool, science block, sixth form campus, arts and design centre which includes a theatre seating 250, music therapy centre, and recording studio.
Our Energy Certification team were engaged by our client chdp Architecture to provide an Energy Strategy Report during the planning stage of the project, to support our client’s planning application.
Our consulting team then provided a range of M&E design consultancy and BREEAM assessment consultancy services to the project during the design stage.
These steps resulted in an “excellent” BREEAM rating, which exceeded our client’s initial sustainability aims for the development.
