Service Overview
Launched by the Government in 2007 the Code for Sustainable Homes replaces EcoHomes as the National standard to be used in the design and construction of new-build residential properties in England.
The code uses a rating system of 1-6 stars and involves a Design Stage and a Post Construction Assessment which is submitted to the Building Research Establishment (BRE), the assessment’s governing body, for review. Once satisfied the BRE issues a certificate for each assessed stage.
Formal code assessment of new-build dwellings can only be carried out by a suitably qualified, licensed and registered, Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor.
To achieve a higher rating in CSH, it is essential that the assessor be appointed at early design stages to ensure the requirements for the assessment are incorporated in the most efficient and suitable manner for the development.
